Marie-Anne Raue was born in 1975 in Berlin. She met her business partner, Tim, while still at secondary school, after which she completed training as a restaurant manager at the Bamberger Reiter restaurant.
She then gained experience at the Rosenbaum restaurant and the Kaiserstuben in Berlin. Marie-Anne Raue then took on responsibilities as the m’aître d’hotel and sommelier at the E.T.A. Hofmann restaurant in the Riehmers Hofgarten hotel. The congenial hostess managed the service side of the business in the same position at Restaurant 44, where Tim was in charge of the kitchen. Her work here was recognised by Gault Millau with an award for exceptionally good service in 2005 and 2006, and she was also named “Berlin Maître of the Year 2005”. In 2009, Marie-Anne Raue was also awarded the title of Head Waitress of the Year 2009 by Gault Millau in her position as general manager at MÂ restaurant.
In 2010, Marie-Anne Raue started her own business together with her business partner Tim Raue as founder and CEO of Restaurant Tim Raue. Today, the restaurant is awarded with two Michelin stars and 19.5 Gault & Millau points and is one of the best in the country.
The Restaurant Tim Raue is also the only German restaurant to date that has been presented in the globally known series Chef’s Table on Netflix in its own separate episode.
The restaurant is also ranked #37 on the list of “The World’s 50 Best Restaurants“, making it the only German restaurant in the top 50. In her position, Marie-Anne Raue is not only a vital part in the success of the restaurant, but also a significant networker in the city. Since 2018, she has been organizing regular Ladies Lunches, bringing together the leading female creators of the capital.
